Northwest Chess Online Open: A Historic Memorial Tournament
The Northwest Chess organization is excited to announce the upcoming Northwest Chess Online Open, a special fundraising tournament designed to support the publication. This six-round event will be hosted on chess.com from May 9-10, and is dedicated to the memory of Mike Neeley, a respected former editor of Northwest Chess.
Participants will have the opportunity to compete for valuable prizes, including subscriptions or extensions to Northwest Chess magazine. This tournament marks a significant milestone as it is the inaugural NWC Open to be held entirely online, making it a truly historic occasion.
Furthermore, due to the unfortunate cancellation of the initial event earlier this year amidst global COVID-19 concerns, this online edition represents the only instance where the Northwest Chess Open has been organized twice within the same calendar year.
