"Hello, Yoshi!" App for Kids Now Free on Nintendo Switch eShop
Following the introduction of the "Hello, Mario!" app as part of the My Mario product line, it's now the beloved green dinosaur's turn. "Hello, Yoshi!" offers an interactive experience akin to the original "Hello, Mario!" title. This means you'll see Yoshi's face on your Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 screen, which you can touch, stretch, spin, or use in mini-games. You can download the app for free, and it's exclusively functional with the touchscreen in handheld mode.
While it may not offer much for adult gamers, it's important to remember that these free apps are primarily aimed at younger children. With "Yoshi and the Mysterious Book" on the horizon for Switch 2, and his appearance in "Super Mario Galaxy: The Movie," it's never too early for kids to get acquainted with their next favorite dinosaur.
Here are some of the features offered by the app, available on the Switch and Switch 2 eShop:
Make Funny Faces
Play with your child to see how funny Yoshi's face can get by stretching it or taking turns touching and spinning it. Tap the question mark block in the top-left corner of the screen and select an icon to bring up objects like Super Mushrooms, Super Stars, pipes, and even enemies alongside Yoshi.
Play Hide-and-Seek!
Invite Yoshi to play hide-and-seek by tapping the icon on the left in the question mark block menu. Boo might even make a surprise appearance!
Built-in Breaks
Good night, Yoshi! Yoshi gets tired after playing for a while and falls deeply asleep. At this point, no matter how much you bother him, you won't be able to wake him up! This is an excellent opportunity to take a break and helps parents limit their children's screen time. If you want the fun to continue, you can disable this feature by tapping the gear icon in the top-right corner of the screen when the app starts.
Play Offline
You don't need an internet connection to play this app. Once downloaded, you can start playing right away!
This isn't the first time Yoshi's face could be stretched like Mario's; it was possible in "Super Mario 64 DS" when he was the first playable character in the handheld title.
