While there are currently 1025 Pokémon in existence, Champions will take considerable time to reach that number. The current list includes just over 100 species. The development team plans to continually add new Pokémon, but also rotate the available roster, meaning the full complement of over a thousand Pokémon will likely never be available all at once.
The good news is that the game will receive constant updates and is expected to be available indefinitely, mitigating any risk of closure, as the competitive Pokémon scene will reportedly rely on Pokémon Champions going forward.
