While Diablo isn't typically seen as a franchise as prone to crossovers as, say, Fortnite, its recent collaborations have been thoughtfully selected. Past integrations in Diablo IV with Berserk and Starcraft, for instance, seamlessly blended with its dark fantasy aesthetic. The same can be expected from Doom: The Dark Ages, which is set to integrate smoothly with the mobile game Diablo Immortal without clashing with its tone.

This collaboration will manifest as the ‘Realm of the Slayer’ event, running from Thursday, April 16th, to Wednesday, May 13th, 2026. A brief cinematic trailer (not included here) offers a glimpse of the in-game designs, though it doesn't delve into specific gameplay mechanics.

At the heart of the Doom: The Dark Ages and Diablo Immortal collaboration lies the 'Slayer's Scourge,' a unique take on the 'Survivor's Scourge' mode. This mode will feature abilities and weaponry directly inspired by id Software's iconic game, including the Saw Shield, Dread Mace, and the Super Shotgun.

Naturally, players will encounter enemies from the Doom universe across the Sanctuary map, culminating in the iconic Cyberdemon as the event's final boss. Additionally, the Crucible will be introduced as a new two-star Legendary Gem. This gem enables players to trigger a "slaughter" mechanic, allowing them to massacre enemies with a specific maximum health and deal increasing damage as the target's health diminishes. Enemies vanquished during a slaughter grant "Slayer's Wrath," boosting damage and movement speed. Slayer's Wrath stacks, and defeating a player instantly grants maximum stacks. Slaughters cannot occur more than once every few seconds per enemy.

Throughout this event, players will also have the opportunity to acquire Doom-inspired weapon skins, the iconic Slayer's Praetor Suit armor from the Phantasm Market, and new Familiars such as the Cacodemon and the Serrat mount.

Finally, we'd like to inform players that those who log into Diablo Immortal during the Doom: The Dark Ages collaboration event will receive the following items for free:

  • 1 Legendary Gem: The Crucible
  • 1 Legendary Crest
  • 5 Emojis
  • 6 Crests
  • 10 Set Items
  • 10 Weapon Cosmetics: Sentinel Forged Armory

This only leaves us to wonder: why couldn't this collaboration have been with Diablo IV instead?

Diablo Immortal is a free-to-play game with optional microtransactions, available on iOS, Android mobile devices, and PC via Battle.net.
