Davide Frattesi Joins Lazio on Loan from Inter with a €15m Purchase Option
Davide Frattesi has officially made the move to Lazio, joining on loan from Inter Milan. The deal includes an option for Lazio to purchase the midfielder permanently at the end of the season, though the initial obligation to buy had to be rescinded.
Frattesi arrived earlier today to undergo and successfully complete his medical examinations before signing his contract with the club.
Frattesi's Return to Lazio is Finalized
The initial agreement for Frattesi's transfer was structured as a €1 million loan with a mandatory €14 million purchase at the conclusion of the season. This agreement also stipulated that Inter would retain 50% of any profit generated from a future sale of the player.
However, Lazio's financial constraints made this original arrangement unfeasible. Consequently, the clubs were compelled to renegotiate the terms of the deal over the past couple of days.
The revised agreement involves Lazio paying a higher loan fee, reported to be around €5 million, and an option to buy for an additional €10 million. This €15 million potential total fee is significantly lower than the initial €30 million valuation.
The reduced fee is a result of Inter retaining a reported 50% of the profit from any future sale by Lazio. This means Lazio would only pocket half of any amount exceeding the initial €15 million, rather than half of the total transfer sum.
The official announcement from Lazio highlighted that this marks a significant homecoming for Frattesi, as he first joined the club's youth academy.
