Mercato: Achraf Hakimi Eyeing Real Madrid Return?

Achraf Hakimi, 27, is reportedly considering a return to Real Madrid, the club where he was developed and began his professional career. Although he played 17 matches and won two titles—the Club World Cup and the Champions League—in 2017, he never secured a long-term role with the senior team.

The Moroccan international, who is said to be willing to do "what's necessary" for this transfer, is currently under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until 2029. Having joined PSG in 2021 for approximately €70 million from Inter Milan, he has established himself as a superstar. Notably, he won the Champions League with PSG in 2025, scoring in the first leg of the quarter-final, the second leg of the semi-final, and the final itself.

Despite the complexities of a transfer due to his lengthy contract, relations between Real Madrid and PSG have reportedly improved, potentially easing negotiations. A return to Madrid would also allow Hakimi to reunite with close friend Kylian Mbappé, with whom he shared four seasons at PSG.

Following his initial spell at Real, Hakimi was loaned for two years to Borussia Dortmund (2018-2020), where he blossomed into a European talent and won the German Supercup in 2019. In 2020, Real Madrid permanently sold him to Inter Milan for €43 million. In Italy, he continued his progression, winning Serie A, before joining PSG the following summer. In Paris, Hakimi has become an indispensable player, featuring in 53 matches during the 2024-2025 season, finishing 6th in the Ballon d'Or voting, and winning the African Player of the Year award.
