Metropolitans 92 Enters the Race for an NBA Europe Franchise
The competition for an NBA Europe franchise is intensifying. While clubs focus on concluding their current seasons, some executives are working diligently on the administrative front to secure a spot.
Luc Dayan, president of Metropolitans 92 (based in Levallois), is among those actively pursuing such a franchise. He confirmed that EuroStep Ventures shareholders, Sam Katzin-Simon and Allen T. Lamb, have formally expressed their interest to the NBA and have met with Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum. They assert they possess the financial means to develop the franchise if the NBA is receptive to their proposal. Dayan also noted previous discussions with QSI (Qatar Sports Investments), owners of PSG, regarding a potential collaboration for a PSG franchise, but the Qatari group is currently developing its proposal independently.
However, it appears unlikely that NBA executives would favor the Metropolitans' bid over that of PSG. The Parisian club, a global sports giant, enjoys significant backing, including from prominent figures like Kevin Durant, and recently won the Champions League. These factors position PSG as the overwhelming favorite for this highly coveted franchise in the capital.
