Monaco's Luxury Tax Reduced by 30% After LNB Agreement

A recent agreement between the French National Basketball League (LNB) and AS Monaco has led to a controversial yet crucial decision for the Principality's club. After initially withdrawing from a direct financial aid proposal of €500,000, the LNB has now intervened, granting a significant reduction of approximately 30% on the "Luxury Tax" that the Roca Team was obliged to pay.

This tax, outstanding since early January, stemmed from the club's substantial exceeding of the authorized salary cap of €8.5 million, with Monaco's expenditures estimated at over €13 million. Facing a potential bankruptcy filing and a possible suspension from the LNB playoffs if the tax remained unpaid, this measure offers a significant relief for the club, averting immediate financial crises.
