Abdulla Dayakaev's Next Fight Could Be for a ONE World Title
Following two consecutive victories over a legendary opponent, one fighter has made a strong case for a shot at the championship, with no other challenges remaining.
Abdulla Dayakaev concluded his series with ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion Superlek by achieving a second-round technical knockout (TKO) at The Inner Circle 25, boosting his professional record to 17 wins and 3 losses. The fight ended abruptly just 39 seconds into the second round at Lumpinee Stadium when Superlek's leg gave out during an exchange. This premature finish halted a bout that Dayakaev had anticipated would go the full distance.
With this rivalry now settled, the 24-year-old Russian fighter has set his sights on the upcoming clash for the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Championship between Rambolek Chor Ajalaboon and Yod-IQ Or Pimolsri, scheduled for The Inner Circle 30 on September 11. Both of these fighters have previously defeated Dayakaev, with Rambolek being the only one to stop him.
"I'm aiming for a World Title shot. Since my last defeat, I've secured two consecutive wins, and I've defeated a legendary fighter twice. The first victory was a split decision, which was acceptable. However, this time, they cannot ignore my claim," he stated.
Abdulla Dayakaev Faces a Competitive Path to the Title
Dayakaev's pursuit of a title shot is complicated by Suakim PongSuphan PK's victory over Nabil Anane on the same Inner Circle 25 card. This win has positioned Suakim ahead of Dayakaev for the next opportunity at the bantamweight Muay Thai title.
Regardless of who emerges victorious from The Inner Circle 30 with the belt, Dayakaev is confident he has the strategy to overcome an opponent who has previously bested him.
"I respect him. I'm not suggesting he's a poor fighter; he's a very intelligent competitor. However, I am convinced that this time, I can win," he expressed.
"I am eager to prove myself in a World Title fight. I want to find the answers and face the winner of that bout."
Dayakaev also acknowledged Superlek's injury, extending his wishes for a swift recovery to his former rival. He hopes to see the Thai superstar continue his career in kickboxing, where he remains the reigning 135-pound champion, even as their personal Muay Thai series has concluded.
